Cinnamon Bay Beach and Campground is NOW OPEN!

Cinnamon Bay Beach and Campground is NOW OPEN! 3
Good Morning All and a happy Monday to you! Last week, Teddy finally convinced me it was time for some dinghy driving practice. So, I bargained with him for Cinnamon Bay as the destination so that I could get out there to say hello and see the new updates for myself. All in all, it was a glorious day (I didn’t wreck the dinghy :)), but our time at cinnamon was the highlight. The changes, the energy, the staff at the newly re-opened campground really blew my socks off! It felt SO good to be out there again and see the place alive and thriving. Finally, nearly five years after Hurricane Irma ravaged the only campground in the VI National Park, the doors are open and the place has rebounded in a big way.

Plastic Recycling has Arrived in Love City!

Plastic Recycling has Arrived in Love City! 5

A few weeks ago, I updated you all about a great way to cut down on your plastic waste while you are visiting St. John.  Ditch the disposable single use plastic bottles and refill your gallons!  Well, a lot of you were wondering why we don’t have recycling on island.  Well, the short answer is, we do…It’s just not as easy or as widespread as it is in the states.  Up until a week ago, Island Green Living Association only accepted aluminum cans through their non-profit owned and operated, grass roots recycling program.  But, that’s all about to change.  Ladies and gentlemen, for the first time ever, please give a big round of applause to Island Green for bringing plastic recycling to St. John!

On a typical day, the bay in front of Lovango Cay is busy with boats filled with passengers, journeying to the small island off of St. John in search of underwater adventures or fine dining on her shores.  But, on Sunday evening, a very different type of celebration was taking place.  Notable boats by the number, overflowing with community members, friends and family filled the small bay with the intent of a memorial and final send off for Captain Phil Chalker.
