We’ve heard rumblings that Wharfside Village was on the verge of being sold, and today we can officially tell you it has a new owner.
Joe DeCourcy, a longtime resident of St. John, purchased both the land and the buildings earlier this week. The deal was made public Thursday afternoon after the former owner, Wharfside Village LP, notified Wharfside’s tenants.
If Joe’s name sounds familiar to many of you, it’s because he has quite an interest in Wharfside. Joe is the owner of three restaurants at the waterfront complex in Cruz Bay – Joe’s Rum Hut, Waterfront Bistro and Vista Mare. Joe also owns Wharfside’s paid parking lot.
We chatted with Joe Thursday afternoon, and he assured us that everything we know and love about Wharfside will be staying the same. He said he is very excited to become the new owner and is looking forward to the opportunity. Congrats Joe.
This should be good for Wharfside. The improvements I’ve seen at Joe’s and other nearby places should now carry momentum into the future! Here, here..I propose a toast!!!!
You sure the land sold with it? The listing I saw for this had a 50 year land lease.
To piggy back on Kirk’s question/comment – I also remember the listing and thought it was interesting that it was a leasehold interest, not something I expected to see on STJ.
