Wagapalooza Winner

Tshirt Mark Kichler of Carmel, Indiana will be receiving this Wagapalooza 2007 T-shirt for his entry in last week’s contest in which people were asked to describe their favorite thing about St. John.

"The most amazing thing happened during a July 4th parade, a few years ago," he wrote, "when a little old lady came up to me and said I looked hot and offered me her prime place in the shade and gave me a bottle of water. Like I said, it’s the people of St. John that make it such an amazing place."

Half of the entries also mentioned the people. "It has to be the friendliness," added another writer, Larry. " I cannot think of one place we have been where the people treat visitors so extremely nice."  He added that, his wife "would say the Bushwackers at the Beach Bar would be one of her favorite things."

Cafe Roma’s pizza!  My husband (Jim) and I dream about it when we’re home and count the days until we can go to Roma’s again.  (That’s Jim, at right) Susan
  • My favorite thing about St. John is the peace you experience while on
the Island.  Once you leave the mainland you can actually hear nature
    at her best.

  • I know now for sure that if there were beaches in the Garden of Eden,
God surely had St. John in mind for his design. Hearts may be left in
San Francisco but a part of your soul never leaves St. John.

  • We love St. John for many reasons. The biggest is everyone on the island is so "doggone" nice!

  • Much slower pace than at home. The beaches are fantastic. The people
are just as fantastic. You can drink just about anywhere

  • The people, the pace, the beauty……..to me my heart and soul met when I came to STJ.

  • I guess I would have to say my favorite thing about St. John would be
the "Island Time."  I love being so laid back away from the busy life
    here at home

  • When we were at Maho some years ago, there was a hermit crab who called a baby
food jar his/her home. The crab and residence were at the commissary, for all of
    us to visit.
