St. John lesson: cash is king

Shannon and David are eight months into their adventure of being business owners on the island.

“Next up is painting the store, Gallows Point Gourmet,” she wrote.  “We got estimates, which were ‘spendy’ to say the least, so we decided ‘How hard can this be’?  We can paint!  We’ll see how that goes.”  She promises to send photos of ‘the new look’.

Besides the store, the couple have a business booking activities for vacationers, daysails, snorkel tours, hikes, etc.  So, part of the job is to know the territory, which is why Shannon took a trip to Coral Bay.  To the Tourist Trap, where her wine salesman was making a delivery.  Togther they cooked up a wine tasting event back in Cruz Bay. “Love the impromptu business meeting, all over a simple lobster roll and Mount Gay and Coke,” she said.

Then it was back past Carolina Corral where damna does horseback tours, and on to Vie’s Snack Shack.  “Met her daughter, instead lovely woman, cutre place,” said Shannon.  “Note to self – bring cash next time.  In fact, note to everyone: cash is king on St. John.”
