The Pond Bay Club development at Chocolate Hole is to be sold at auction May 2, according to Lynda Lohr, the fine reporter for the St. John Source.
She's been told by the Planning and Natural Resources department that permits necessary to resume work at the 13.5 acre site could be used by a new owner.
Lohr quoted an attorney involved in Pond Bay-related cases saying the auction will include "the entire partially-developed property."
Work halted in October, 2009. Plans were to develop 50 luxurious residential units which would become part of a high-end resort and fractional ownership club.
Lohr quoted the island administrator, Leona Smith, welcoming word of the auction plans. A Chocolate Hole resident said she would prefer to see "a wrecking ball".
