First off, happy Saturday!! Well folks, if you are lucky enough to be on island next week, you’re in for a real treat because there is a lot of great music happening around town.
For starters, The Wheeland Brothers. They’re Southern Californian brothers who grew up in Orange County surfing, scarfing down hole-in-the wall Mexican food and jamming around beach bonfires. They were here back in 2015 for the Country Music Fest and they were pretty fantastic. They’re returning next week and will play on Monday, December 5th and Friday, December 9th at Barefoot Cowboy as part of the Barefoot Live concert series. Both shows will begin at 6:30 p.m.
This time around the boys return to the islands not as a full band, but as an acoustic trio being joined by their percussionist Joey Smithwick! They describe their music as being sunshine music, inspired by waves, hanging’ with friends, and dreaming of distant shores. It’s equal parts hip hop, beach country & new school American reggae.
“Basically, if you love the beach and good vibes, you’ll love our sound,” Travis Wheeland said.
The Wheeland Brothers will also play at Soggy Dollar on Jost on Wednesday, Myett’s on Tortola on Saturday and at the ABI Beach Bar on St. Thomas on Sunday.
Barefoot will also have live music Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as part of the Barefoot Concert Series. Those shows also start at 6:30 p.m. It’s going to be a great week of live music, so be sure to check it out.
