Registration is underway for the annual seventh annual Beach-to-Beach Power Swim.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park, the May 30 event is actually four swims with courses ranging from one mile to 3 1/2 miles. Each begins at Maho Bay and continues along the north shore to Cinnamon, Trunk and/or Hawksnest Beach.
The Power Swim's not just for swimmers, either. Starting at 11 a.m., there's an all-island party at Oppenheimer Beach. There will also be an awards ceremony. several hundred swimmers completed the courses last year. You can see 2009 results here.
