For those of you on island last week, you may have seen a film crew around the island. Well the crew was working on behalf of the Travel Channel and was shooting footage for an upcoming show called “Life’s a Beach.”
From what we hear, the episode will spotlight ex pats who are living the dream and running businesses in the Caribbean. They interviewed our friends over at St. John Brewers for a bit on Friday and asked them to share their story about how a couple of college students came to the Virgin Islands and began brewing some of the most delicious beer around.
The crew also paid a visit to our friend Peter who runs the island’s only floating bar – Angels Rest. For those of you unfamiliar with Angels Rest, it’s a neat little houseboat that’s been converted into a pretty amazing little floating bar. It anchors offshore and you have to swim to get there. And trust me, hanging out with Peter is worth the swim alone. I spent some time on Angels Rest last Easter and had a blast. Click here to read that story.
For those of you who’ve seen Peter and Angels Rest out at Maho or most recently in Frank Bay, he asked us to pass along a message that he currently is not open (obviously he cannot sell in the National Park), but he does expect to reopen within the next few weeks. We’ll keep you all posted on that.
Our friends over at Ocean Runner also got in on the action last week, as they had the opportunity to shuttle the film crew around to various locations throughout the Virgin islands. They said they were told the episode will air next December during the Travel Channel’s annual Beach Week. Ocean Runner was recently taken over by our friend Captain Jay Rushing and his wife Stephanie, along with Ted and Kathee Kramm. We happen to be going out with Ocean Runner this Friday, so we will keep you all posted on that.
