I love, love, love Festival! If you haven’t been on St. John during Festival, it’s not too late! I highly suggest you start looking for airfare and a place to stay. It’s honestly such a good time. 🙂
Festival technically starts today with a food sale. Tomorrow Pan-O-Rama happens at 6 p.m., which is also always a good time. Next weekend is the bike race and the Princess Pageant. The week after that – June 20th and 21st – is the Queen Pageant, Food Fair and the Boat Races. The Village and Children’s Village open on June 27.
The best part – in my opinion – is July 4th. The party starts at sunrise with J’ouvert. J’ourvert is a street party/parade that happens in Cruz Bay. There’s dancing and super loud music. If you’re in Cruz Bay during J’ouvert, you shouldn’t miss it. It’s a fun experience.
The parade starts later that morning at 11 a.m. Factor in some island time for this one though. I think it began last year around 12:30 p.m. and continued for at least six hours. Only on St. John folks…
The party ends around 9 p.m. (or possibly 10 p.m. – island time) with fireworks over Cruz Bay. Last year’s were great!
Festival concludes July 5 with a poker run that happens at noon. We’ll pass along more information on that when we get it.
In the meantime, check out some pics and videos from last year’s Festival…
Here’s a little video we took last year during Food Fair:
