Willy T Finds a New Home

So last Friday, we told you all how the new Willy T had returned to the British Virgin Islands. It was a pretty popular story, receiving more than 1,200 likes on our Facebook page, 134 shares and a slew of comments. Well a few hours after we posted the story, we learned that the Willy T was no longer welcomed at its original home in the Bight over at Norman Island. The Willy T was essentially homeless.

Well fast forward to yesterday. The BVI News reported that the Willy T has found a new home. Thank goodness! So that’s the good news. The bad news is that you will all have to travel a tiny bit further to reach it.

The Willy T is now set to anchor in Great Harbour on Peter Island. We estimate that it will take about 15 minutes more to reach the new Willy T’s location, so not that bad. This map shows you its previous and new location:

Unfortunately the resort also sustained a good amount of damage and will not be reopening this year, according to its website. Fingers crossed that they reopen in 2019!

We’re still not certain when the Willy T will serve up its first drink, but you know we will let you all know as soon as we do. In the meantime, have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!

  1. For those of us who consider no trip to BVIs complete without lunch at and a “plunge” off the Willy T, this is the best outcome we could hope for with regard to our BVI charter itineraries not having to change much.

You can still check in at Tortola, head over and snorkel the Indians, Caves, etc. and head over to Peter Island to hit the Willy T for lunch before heading towards Jost.

Looking forward to jumping off the new Willy T.

  2. We’ll still have to come back through customs—-now a whopping $70.00 per person ( $140.00 per couple)—-and do we still have to go to St. Thomas on return—a lot of money and time to drink/eat under the British flag !

    • Just got back from St.John and yes it is $70 a head to visit the Queen’s Islands but no you don’t have to go to St.Thomas to return to St.John.

  3. SHAME ON NORMAN ISLAND!!!! Willy T’s has been a destination spot for our family for over 15 years! THANK YOU Peter Island for welcoming this BVI icon into your fold!

  4. Hi all – so I’m a little confused with all of this customs stuff. We will be in St. John and would really just like to head to the Willy T for the afternoon. Is this even possible? We are coming in on a cruise and will be docked at the Heritage Quay Pier

    • Hello, that pier is in St. John’s, Antigua. This website is for St. John, US Virgin Islands. The Willy T is in the British Virgin Islands, which is close to the US Virgin Islands. It’s very confusing. 🙂
