St. John: Maria approacheth

The center of Tropical Storm Maria is expected to pass over the island at 2 a.m. Sunday. Winds Saturday morning were about 50 miles an hour.

  • The Governor has declared a State of Emergency. A curfew has also been ordered from 7 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday. Emergency Shelters will be opened.  
  • The Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs issued a price freeze to prevent price gouging.
    • "Prices are frozen at existing levels on all items of food, general supplies, and services. Additionally, all items of food, and general supplies whether locally produced or imported, are restricted from being exported or sold outside of the territory.  Merchants are also forbidden to alter the ordinary delivery methods, terms, discounts, concessions, or methods of payment."
