Support St. John’s Cancer Fund Tonight through Sunday

LUTN 2017The St. John Cancer Fund’s annual Light Up the Night event is happening this Saturday and Sunday, and several businesses around the island are holding special events leading up to it in an effort to raise money for this very worthy cause.

Light Up the Night,” is a 16-hour, family-oriented and community-supported overnight event that begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 14th at the Winston Wells Ball Field in Cruz Bay. It’s a great opportunity for the community and our visitors to support St. Johnians who have been affected by cancer. The event consists of teams, created by local businesses and organizations, who will walk for 16 hours to support and raise awareness for those affected by cancer.

Participating teams are asked to raise $1,000, however most teams go way above and beyond.

The Beach Bar, of the event’s top money raising teams each year, is donating 100 percent of its tops today, Thursday the 12th, to the St. John Cancer Fund. Brother Nature will be playing a free show tonight at 9 p.m. (with a few special guests), and we hop to see you all there! The Beach Bar will also have a dunk tank at Light Up the Night, and all proceeds will be donated to the St. John Cancer Fund.

Umami is also having a “prohibition style” fundraiser tonight to support the Cancer Fund. This speakeasy-themed bash will be Umami’s main fundraising event with all of its proceeds and tips going to the St. John Cancer Fund. Shutters will be closed so enter through the side door. The password is: UMAMI loves you. There will be classic cocktails, photo booth, dice, flappers and more.

Joe’s Rum Hut is getting into the action on Friday when it will donate all of its Happy Hour tips to the Cancer Fund. So please stop by between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. for its famous $3 “You Call It” Happy Hour.

The St. John Cancer Fund was created in July 2012 to help support St. Johnians affected by cancer. Every dollar that goes into the fund goes directly to those in need here on St. John. \There are no administrative or management fees (not even a bank fee), meaning literally every dollar is available to those in need. Since its inception, the fund has granted more than $300,000 directly to patients on St. John, which is simply amazing.

Here are some key event’s from this year’s Light Up the Night:
