Hello everyone and happy Friday! I was cruising around with some guests on a News of St. John Tour yesterday when I stumbled on two new traffic lights on island. In most areas of the world, a new traffic light isn’t really considered “news” but here on St. John, it most certainly is! Or perhaps it’s a slow news week. Either way… 🙂
So as you may know, St. John typically does not have a single traffic light. The two new, temporary traffic lights are located on the road out to Fish Bay right near Mare Blu. The road washed out over there a few years back and has been in need of repair. Last fall’s hurricanes didn’t help the situation either. So finally (and fortunately), the road appears to be slated for repairs now.
You have to love how “emergency” repairs happen two years later in the VI. Well at least they’re happening!
So the next time you’re traveling out toward Fish Bay, give yourselves a few extra minutes. And when you’re sitting at the light heading east, check out Mare Blu on your right. It’s a beautiful villa where Target even filmed a commercial a few years back!
That’s all we have for you today! Have a great Friday everyone!
Jenn, the road has been that way at least four or five years, could be even longer. Maybe just funding is coming from the 2016 tropical storm Otto funds.
Happy Friday!
Yes, I think you’re spot on about the funding linking it to Otto because, as you said, it’s been damaged for awhile.
LOL!! A few years??! Maybe a few more than that We just got home and passed that light hoping the road would hold at least four times a day as we stay in Fish Bay. It’s become a standing joke with our group making bets on if the road has been fixed each year. Maybe next year………. Still, we can’t wait to come back to Love City
