This is a month lots of people on St. John take off. They go on vacation, back to the mainland, visiting friends and family, which is why a bunch of restaurants are closed and the pace on the island is slow. Not to mention that a number of villas don’t take reservations because of the threat of hurricanes.
Nonetheless, Lisa Durgin at Vacation Vistas told the St. John Source she’s had a good month with her 11 homes. Business is up substantially, compared to last September, she added.
On St. Thomas, Richard Doumend of Bolongo Bay Beach Resort used the word “dismal” to describe the month … off 50% from last year, he told the Source.
Back on St. John, Caneel Bay said business was just 1% below last September.
