Back in February, we told you about a new “cool” shop that was set to open in Cruz Bay. Well Laura Tawes and William Fernandez have officially opened their brand new ice pop shop, and today we’d like to tell you all about it.
Irie Pops is located directly across from the National Park Dock, a perfect spot to pop in and grab a sweet treat on a warm day. Irie Pops rotates flavors, from their best sellers like dragonfruit mango lemonade and chocolate sea salt, to their brand new “extra irie” coco-matcha CBD pop! You can also find classic flavors like strawberry banana, coco-berry parfait, or even a pop for your caffeine fix – iced mocha latte!
If you’re coming off of the passenger ferry in Cruz Bay, head left towards Mongoose Junction. You’ll quickly approach Irie Pops on your right, a white building with bright blue shutters, next to Margarita Phil’s. When you walk in, you will be welcomed with cool and calm vibes and encouragement to make yourself at home. Once you try a pop, made with all natural and local ingredients, you will feel a sense of nostalgia, and remember the feeling of the ice cream truck nearing your street as a child. Hang out at a table or bring your treat outside and take in the sights and sounds of Cruz Bay as you enjoy our newest treasure.
What started as a little pushcart in the park in 2017 has grown into a cool, hip, and sweet spot to hang out in Cruz Bay. Laura and Will had a vision to bring something new and exciting to St. John, and when they realized we were lacking in light, refreshing, take & go treats- Irie Pops was born. They plan to continue to grow, with more hang out spots and island-inspired merchandise. Make sure you stop by Irie Pops the next time you’re in Cruz Bay, and let us know which delicious flavor is your favorite!
Irie Pops is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Today’s story was written by Victoria Lemmon, a new News of St. John contributor! Victoria is from northern Virginia and has lived on St. John since January 2016. We are super happy to have her as our latest “news” writer. 🙂
I am honored to be the first to comment on this “cool” little spot. First of all, Laura and Will are two of the kindest and helpful people you want to meet on island (especially when you’re Jeep goes missing from Mongoose Junction), but that’s a story for another day! Their pops are simply delicious. Every one we tried was as good as the last. You can taste the fresh and organic ingredients in every lick . This little jem is a place you must stop by and try. You will not be disappointed.
Delicious! I met Will in February when the shop was opening . Very good people. All the Best!
