Hello everyone and happy Tuesday! We have such great news to share with you all today!
We had a pretty special arrival last night here on island. The Grand Vic pulled into Enighed Pond just a bit after dark. That means that we will soon have three barges to transport vehicles between St. John and St. Thomas.
The new barge is pretty impressive. It’s roughly 160 feet, according to one of the gentleman we spoke to at the dock this morning. It can also hold up to 60 cars. This number will obviously be less when trucks hop on, but regardless, it can hold a lot. And that’s great!
The Grand Vic isn’t operating just yet, but hopefully it will soon. And as always, I still urge you all to rent on St. John even when the third barge begins operating.
Want to check out the status of the Grand Vic yourself? If so, then check it out on Marine Traffic. You can use the app or website to track its movements.
That’s all we have for you today. So happy to be able to share such positive news! Have a great day everyone!
Evening ! Now that is great news !!
Great News! For the residents, it’s a workingman’s highway; For our guests staying on St. Thomas, a great way to explore St. John. I agree wholeheartedly with Jean about renting your car on St. John, if you are staying on St. John. Mechanicals, service issues and the occasional mishap can be handled easily. You don’t want your vacation spoiled by having to take time to run back over to STT to fix a windshield wiper….
