I get a lot of emails here at News of St. John inquiring about event space. Some people are looking for wedding ideas or meet and greets, while others are simply looking for a cool space to throw a party. Well there’s a great new spot that has recently come available, and it won’t break the bank. And even better, it has amazing sunset views! Check out Windy Level…
Windy Level is located in Grunwald on Centerline Road between miles one and two. It’s a beautiful space – run by Mathayom Vacharat of St. John Catering – which has both a large inside dining space, as well as a large outdoor deck area. The two spaces can comfortably accommodate up to 80 people. Check out a few pics:
For those of you who know St. John well, you’re most likely familiar with Chef Mathayom (Mat) Vacharat who has lived on St. John since 1995. Mat has been professionally working with food since 1993 and has been Executive Chef at several of St. John’s premier restaurants including Asolare, Paradiso (which used to be located at Mongoose Junction), Chateau Bordeaux, and Chloe and Bernard’s (a previous restaurant located at the Westin). Although his culinary forte is Asian Fusion, he also is experienced in Caribbean Flair, Progressive American, and Italian Comfort cuisines. I recently attended one of Mat’s Full Moon Dinners at Windy Level, so I can say firsthand that his creations are top-notch. More on that momentarily…
So as we mentioned, Windy Level is now available to private events. There is a $2,500 minimum in catering costs (food and beverages), and the fee includes all furniture and glassware. There is not an additional rental fee for the venue. The space is great for all types of events, including weddings. You can have a cocktail reception on the deck during sunset and then move indoors for a formal dinner, for example.
If you’re looking to check out Windy Level and sample some of Mat’s creations, but you’re not planning an event, you can attend one of his monthly Full Moon dinners. There is a set fee for these five course dinners (the menu and cost changes monthly), and you can also opt to include wine pairings. Here is the menu from this month’s dinner, which happened last Friday:
And here are a few food pics from previous Full Moon dinners:
Looks great, doesn’t it?
