Almost 50 items are available in this year’s Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park online auction, now underway here.

A number of boat charters are on the list, including a cruise on Island Roots, a 25-foot powered catamaran, captained by marine biologist John Stewart. “Capt. John will help you choose secluded spots around St. John that can only be accessed by boat,” the offering description explains. “Just pack a lunch and jump on board because snorkel gear, soft drinks and beer are all provided.”

Among the biggest items this year is a week-long stay at Isla Vista.  With a value of $9,000, the current high bid for the villa stay is about half that, $5,000.

The Friends auction also includes island services, art, and jewelry with proceeds going to programs to perotesct, preserve and educate within the national park.
