Cruz Bay Bar Serves Up Its Last Drink

across the street bar

For those of you who’ve been wandering the streets of Cruz Bay over the last couple of days, you may have noticed that Across the Street hasn’t been open. Well we’re here to tell you today that Across the Street has officially served its last drink.

The owners asked us to let you all know how appreciative they are for your business over the years and how thankful they are of their staff.

Across the Street opened back in 2013 when the then-owners of Woody’s decided to buy Iguana Grill. They named it Across the Street because, well, it was across the street from Woody’s. The building previously housed a Subway restaurant and also served as campaign headquarters for an election.

save the coconuts 2015Speaking of Woody’s, they’re currently planning their annual “Save the Coconuts” block party. This year’s block party will be held on Saturday, October 17th from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. As always, all proceeds from the block party will be donated to the St. John Cancer Fund. The party will feature a DJ, live music, beer pong and flip cup competitions, great food from several St. John restaurants and an incredible raffle.

Not on island? No worries. Our friends at Woody’s are currently working to post an online auction. We’ll let you know as soon as the link is up.

  1. Just goes to show that when you on the Island…go out and eat & drink to support these businesses! St. John is my Paradise and we spend ALOT of money eating & drinking in Cruz Bay & on the Eastside! We get our snorkel gear there, shop & do everything we can to make sure we have these businesses to go back to year after year ~ this will be our 15th consecutive year!

  2. Woody’s hasn’t been “woody’s” since the twins sold it. The vibe changed and it was reflected in a slow change of clientele, especially the locals who used to be there daily. It saddens me because it was our favorite watering hole and place for a bite. It’s still on our path but not visited as often. I guess trying to make a silk purse from a sow’s ear doesn’t work…personally, I preferred when it was a sow’s ear.
