More Parking Options Available in Cruz Bay

Lumberyard Parking Jan 2019

Lumberyard parking

Parking in Cruz Bay just got a little easier…

So as you all probably know by now, the Lumberyard was destroyed during Hurricane Irma. The building was demolished back in August, and many have been wondering what would be built in its place. Well at the time being, nothing is being built, but the space is being put to good use as it recently opened up as paid parking lot.

From what we hear, this will not be permanent, but it’s good for now. It adds a significant amount of additional parking in town. The cost is $5 for the first hour-and-a-half, $10 for up to three hours (from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and $30 all day. They also offer a nighttime rate of $10 for two hours or $15 for more than two hours. Those rates are good from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Whatfside also reopened its Pay2Park yesterday. This option is more affordable as they only charge $15 for a full day – 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This adds roughly two dozen additional spaces along the road and under the garage near Island Cork. This area was a paid lot prior to the storms, yet has been available for free on a first-come, first-served basis since September 2017. This, in my opinion, is a good sign that Wharfside is preparing to reopen in a full capacity.

Our buddy Slim also has a paid parking lot across from Wharfside. He is also running a lot across from Woody’s behind the old first bank. You can always guarantee service with a smile when you’re parking with Slim!

For those of you looking for free parking, you can do so in the custom’s lot, the gravel lot and at the lot beside the tennis courts. The gravel lot is dimly lit, so we do not suggest parking there at night.

That’s all we have for you today, folks… “news” you can use! Have a great Wednesday!

There is handicap parking next to the ferry dock and in the customs lots. These are private lots.

Thank you for all of your information it is greatly appreciated. We were on the island last year in May and so many businesses were still closed but the beauty of the island and the small crowds made it such a beautiful vacation. I am looking forward to coming back in March of this year but I am guessing the island will be bustling with crowds and many more businesses will be up and running. I love reading your blogs they are very informative and just wanted to say keep up the good work!
