Hello everyone and happy Monday! We’d like to start the week off with some good news out of St. John … a new restaurant is scheduled to open this week! More progress on island! How exciting! Here are the details…
Lucky Chops, an Asian-inspired lounge, is scheduled to open this Thursday in the space formerly occupied by The Fish Trap right in Cruz Bay. Lucky Chops is owned and operated by Mathayom Vacharat. Mathayom has been professionally working with food since 1993 and has been executive chef at several of St. John’s premier restaurants including Asolare, Paradiso (which used to be located at Mongoose Junction), Chateau Bordeaux, and Chloe and Bernard’s (a previous restaurant located at the Westin). He also owns St. John Catering.
Lucky Chops describes itself as having a relaxed, adult vibe coupled with fun Asian appetizers and small plates. Check out the menu:
And here are a few pics straight from Lucky Chops’ Facebook page:
Lucky Chops opens this Thursday at 3 p.m. Its regular schedule will be Tuesdays through Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. with food available from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
It’s about time St. John got an affordable restaurant with a top-notch chef. Matayhom is a great chef. We hired him in 2015 to cater a wedding dinner party in a north shore villa and the food was amazing. We are frequent island visitors but only eat out once a week due to the high prices but this restaurant hinges everything.
so looking forward to dining here in 25 days
Hi Jen,
Do you know if he will bring back the Full Moon dinners?
great news – that space needed a new vibe! Looking forward to it.
Love the name and the logo! Also love the high tables and comfy modern chairs. Hopefully he got a good long term deal so he will be there a long time. Anyone know what happened to the gent from Brooklyn who had a restaurant in the space where Fatty Crab was? I think he was there before Fatty Crab. I can’t remember his name but I thing the restaurant was called Tage???
Wow the place looks beautiful. Big change from the Fish Trap. Hope you were able to clean up the view. Hope to see you next January.
Cheers, Mat!
I’ll be down next April with my resume!
Sounds Great! Ready to try out next week ~ Yippee!!!
It’s great to see that people are ready and willing to invest in the island after the storm….
