Hello everyone and happy Valentine’s Day! Today I am super excited to tell you how Cruz Bay is about to get a little sweeter…
For those of you who have been lucky enough to be in Cruz Bay recently, you may have noticed some work happening at the building beside Maragariria Phil’s. Well we are excited to tell you that our good friends Laura Tawes and William Fernandez, owners of Irie Pops, are working to open up their first shop. How exciting is that??!
For those of you who are not familiar with Irie Pops, they are handcrafted ice pops made from all natural, local and organic ingredients. All of the pops are dairy free, gluten free and free of added sugars. They even have “boozy” pops like for the 18 and older crowd.
“Irie” (pronounced eye-ree) is a Jamaican term that is used to describe something nice, good or pleasing and is the perfect way to describe enjoying one of these icy pops on our beautiful island.
But the great thing about this shop is not only can you scoop up one of these delicious pops, you can also get a variety of other items including local and craft beer, wine and spritzers, ice, cold brew coffee and other non-alcoholic drinks.
Laura is a graduate of the Parsons School of Design in New York City and spent 15 years working in the fashion industry before moving to St. John. So I am pretty excited to see some of the t-shirts, hats and other island-inspired lifestyle merchandise that she brings into the shop.
Irie Pops is expected to open soon. We will keep you all posted on that. And in the meantime, you can grab their pops at Sam & Jack’s which is located on the third floor of the Marketplace. Also look for the Irie Pops mobile cart at our community events. They’re even available for private events.
I’m not sure about all of you, but I’m excited about this. I love to tell you all about great things that happen to great people. 🙂
Have a great day everyone, and Happy Valentine’s Day!
Sounds Awesome! Can’t wait to stop by!
Are they planning on beach sales? Like ice cream trucks? The picture made me think of that idea.
