A Whirlwind 48 Hours…

Tom Larson picking up round two of St. Johnopoly

So I have to admit, back in April when I was sitting at a bar in Cruz Bay with Mr. News of St. John, Tom Larson of the Sadie Sea and his wife Amy, and we started chatting about how fabulous it would be to create a Monopoly game for the island, never in a million years did I ever think about all of the logistics involved. We were enjoying a few cocktails – we were in Cruz Bay after all – and all we could think about was how cool this game would be… And I have to say, it is pretty darn cool. I never thought about shipping, labeling, packing and physically bringing hundreds of games to the post office. I simply thought about how fun it would be to play with a few good friends and some rum drinks of course. 🙂

Now fast forward five months. Another thing I didn’t expect was for you all to love this game so much. So a HUGE thank you for that! And never in a million years did I ever expect this whole process to be so hard, yet so fun at the same time.

Over the past 48 hours, News of St. John and Sadie Sea Charters (with the help of a plethora of friends and family up in Connecticut) have picked up, packaged, labeled and shipped hundreds of games. Quite frankly, it’s been nuts. But honestly, so worth it.

So again, I just wanted to publicly thank each and all of you who ordered games. I also want to thank you for your patience in waiting to receive them. All online orders ship out this week, so keep checking that mailbox!

We also have a ton of games en route to St. John. We expect those to arrive next week. We’ll keep you updated on that.

In the meantime, here are a few pics of this ridiculous, yet fun adventure that News of St. John and Sadie Sea Charters have been on for the past 48 hours. And lastly, a huge thank you to the folks at the Wallingford, Conn. post office for your kindness, patience and for allowing me to fulfill my childhood dream of being a mailman – even if it was for only a few hours. 🙂

PS: You can still order your copy of St. Johnopoly. Just visit www.StJohnopoly.com/order

  1. I would like to thank you, your husband, Tom and Amy for coming up with this idea and, more importantly, for following through on it. I can only guess at all the craziness you went through to get it done. Kudos to you all and a big Thank-You!! 😀

  2. I am so excited – I can barely stand it. Been on the lookout on my doorstep for the last couple of days. Thanks the all that helped pull this together. I cannot believe the dream has become a reality – considering it is StJ after all. 😉

    • Thanks David! Not sure where you are located but East Coast should have it today or tomorrow. West Coast should have theirs by Tuesday. Enjoy!

  3. another east coast mainlander (NJ) watching for the mailman! or UPS guy, however it’s coming ^_^

gonna have to mix up a pitcher or two of painkillers for its arrival!
