Late Monday, the National Weather Service issued a Tropical Storm Watch for the U.S. Virgin Islands as the weather disturbance now called Emily gained strength and continued to move west.
Fortunately for St. John, all the projected courses take the heaviest weather southwest of the islands.
Storm warnings are, however, in effect for Puerto Rico, Vieques and Haiti.
The National Weather Service said Tuesday's weather may include showers under cloudy skies and a high near 90. Wednesday will bring more showers and a thunderstorm and cooler temperatures, the high near 83. Rainfall may total two inches.
