Why your villa’s gas grill may not work

Propane
According to the St. John Source, the island “is in the midst of a propane crisis.”

It stems from the U.S. Coast Guard’s decision to enforce its rule that only 16 people can be on a car barge when propane is being transported. Ergo, the island’s primary supplies of the gas, Elvis Yearwood, told the newspaper’s he’s spent entire days at Red Hook waiting to be waved onto a barge with fewer people.  Boyson, a barge company, suggested he call ahead to make arrangements for a trip, but she said that hasn’t happened, even though the problem’s been going on for months.

The workaround for home, villa owners and managers who want to cook with gas, but can’t get the 100-pound tanks, is to head to Home Depot or Kmart and pick up the “residential-sized” 20 pound tanks.
