What’s your vision for Coral Bay?

CBCC_logoIf you don’t have a plan, any road will take you where you want to go.  For folks in Coral Bay, that’s not good enough.

So today, Thursday and Friday, a group of planners and consultants will be walking and driving around Coral Bay to get an idea of what the quiet side of St. John might look like, and how it will develop, in the coming years.

The Coral Bay Community Council is behind the project, hosting an American Institute of Architects “Sustainable Design Team Workshop.”

Residents and property owners are encouraged to attend the kickoff tonight at the Coral Bay basketball court to express their thoughts about the community’s development.

“The AIA Design Team will work together to create a vision for Coral Bay,” according to a Community Council news release. It will address issues “such as appropriate development and infrastructure while protecting the natural environment and enhancing our overall quality of life for many years to come.”

Friday evening at the Concordia EcoResort Pavilion, the Design team will present a report of its findings and recomendations and encourage comment.

  1. I think for starters they need a gas station, or at least a gas dock.

A deep dock for a local coral bay to Cruz bay ferry service would be a good idea too.

  2. They are going to try to do what the Danish did all those years ago and make it a grand and easier way to travel with all the ADVANCED ways to make things better and even they will still wind up MUCKING UP the area at best they’ll mess it up so bad you’ll wind up driving of the road into a BRAND NEW ditch.

  3. There is a reason people want to live or stay in Coral Bay as the quiet laid back vibe of the East is the draw. The “development” of the Coral Bay area will have to be a very delicate balance if development is to occur at all. A working gas station is needed. If you want the “hustle and bustle”, stay in Cruz. DON’T RUIN A GOOD THING.
