St. John goes to the dogs next month

The annual Animal Care Center fund raiser, Wagapalooza, has been scheduled for Saturday May 12 at the ball field next to the Sprauve School in Cruz Bay. Dozens of dogs, from poodles to "Coconut Retrievers" parade, prance, and party with their owners for fun and prizes.  "Waga is held in the evening (5 p.m. to 8 p.m.) in order to make it more pet friendly (when it’s cooler," said the show’s organizers.

The new categories this year include Biggest Lap Dog, Pooch Who Can Smooch, and Best Doggy Dancer.  This year’s event will be MC’d by Roger W., Morgan, a disc jockey on St. Croix’s 93.5 Pirate Radio.

If you’ll be on island, on your way back from the beach., find a place to park and watch the fun.  Admission is free … but also feel "free" to pick up a t-shirt or a tote bag, ride a donkey, and have some food — all proceeds go to the Care Center.
