For those of you who’ve seen the latest issue of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition, you may have noticed some familiar scenery. St. John has once again graced the pages of the popular magazine.
Caneel Bay Resort welcomed photographer Yu Tsai and celebrity body painter Joanne Gair, who painted patriotic-themed bathing suits on the models. They shot at Turtle Beach and Hawksnest Beach. Caneel Bay was also featured in the Swimsuit Edition back in 2008 when one of its beaches appeared in the cover photo.
Speaking of the cover photo, who remembers a little story we wrote back in October about New York Yankees player Derek Jeter’s visit to the island? We mentioned how he and his girlfriend, Hannah Davis, were spotted in town. (Click here to read that story.) Well Hannah Davis, who was born and raised over in St. Thomas, happens to appear on this year’s cover.
The Travel Channel will also feature St. John this week as part of Beach Week. Each night they will show a behind the scenes look at the making of the 2015 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. St. John and Caneel will be featured in the episode titled “Beauty & the East.” It will be on Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST, Thursday at 2 p.m. EST and Thursday at noon EST.
