Sailing on Island Dream

One of the best perks we get here at News of St. John is the opportunity to try new things before they’re offered to the general public. I guess you could say we’re the guinea pigs of St. John (and I wouldn’t have it any other way!). Well last weekend we were invited out on Island Dream, Cruz Bay Watersports’ newest catamaran. Check it out…

Island Dream is a 53′ Gold Coast catamaran that was recently overhauled and looks spectacular. It has brand new paint, very comfortable seating and gorgeous new sails. With two large trampolines up front and several bean bag chairs scattered throughout the bow, I can easily say it’s one of the most comfortable boats I’ve been on in a long time.

I was given the option of taking a three-hour snorkel sail or an evening sunset cruise. I opted for the snorkel sail and was whisked off to Mermaid’s Chair over near Hawksnest Bay. We had a great time in the water and then hopped back onboard for complimentary drinks that included a full open bar.

As always, it was another great trip with Cruz Bay Watersports. For those of you unfamiliar with Cruz Bay Watersports, they offer trips to Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke, snorkeling and scuba trips, as well as sunset sails and dinghy rentals. If you’re interested in learning more about any of their trips or if you’d like to book a trip, feel free to send us an email at [email protected] and we can help.
