Even though VI residents can’t vote for President, they still got some attention from Barack Obama this week. That’s because they can write checks.
Obama’s calendar of activities on St. Thomas earlier this week included a private morning get together with donors at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Tickets to the breakfast cost either $1,000 or $2,300, according to the Virgin Islands Daily News’ report. Other meetings included Gov. John deJongh, Montessori school pupils, and VI Democrat leaders.
The islands’ Delegate to Congress, Donna Christensen, is co-chair of Hillary Clinton’s campaign effort in the VI. She told the Daily News she hopes to arrange a visit by the former First Lady.
