Every seven years the Virgin Islands changes its license plate design. The new one is starting to show up on island vehicles. Lawrence Olive, assistant director of the Motor Vehicle Bureau, co-designed the white plates which depict the islands in blue with a a yellow sprig of a cedar plant and four varieties of tropical fish, the Virgin Islands Daily News reported. The new plates are affixed by inspectors when vehicles come in for annual inspections.
(Note the Blue Tang, naturally our favorite image, on the plate’s upper left corner. Puzzled? OK, visit our villa, which is named BlueTang)
Olive also said the Motor Vehicle Bureau hopes to move to a new location on St. John. Currently, it is in some trailers, across the street from the fire station, below O’Connor’s Texaco.
