New Restaurant Set To Open in Cruz Bay

Well that was fast.

Last week we told you how the Across the Street bar had served up its last drink. Well today we want to let you all in on a not very well kept secret here on island regarding what’s happening over at the former ATS location.

A little birdie told us last Friday that a sushi restaurant was set to open in the former ATS spot and that it was being run by a well-known business owner here on island. We contacted the “well-known business owner” and he said that yes, what we heard was in fact the truth; however he could only release a few details at the moment.

So this is what we are able to tell you…

The restaurant’s concept will be sushi, and it will be led by chef Nate Bohning. It will also feature fresh cocktails crafted to compliment the sushi menu.

Some of you may be familiar with Nate… He held a sushi night over at Drink earlier this year. Nate has a pretty impressive background that includes working as the top chef at Oceana, a Michelin rated restaurant in New York City. He’s also worked as the executive chef at The Cove in Eleuthera and most recently as the chef at Kaiyo Grill & Sushi in Islamorada, Florida where he created island-inspired fare with a creative twist.

We’ll keep you posted on the rest of the details as soon as we’re able to.

  1. Oh no! We have spent 30 afternoons over the past three years there enjoying $1 beers and the people watching view. I can’t imagine sushi being in my future between 3 and 6 but if the Coors bucket survives then we will give it a shot.

  2. There is no such thing as a five star michellin . It only goes up to three. If someone where a top chef at a three star michellin restaurant, they would be famous and not cooking on st. John
