For the past couple of months, we’ve been watching some construction happening across from the gravel lot in Cruz Bay. Well a ton of brand new Jeeps showed up the other day, so we can officially tell you that it’s going to be a new Jeep rental place. (Yes, this is my journalism degree working to its finest today 🙂 )
The place is called Lionel Jeep Rental. Once it officially opens, it will operate Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For those of you interested in renting with them, their number is (340) 693-8764.
They have a ton of brand new Jeeps and a great location within five minutes of town, It doesn’t look like they will have parking on site, but you can easily park across the street in the gravel lot – but not for more than 72 hours at a time.
Lionel’s has been opened for years. This must just be a new location. We have been renting form Karen and her dad for the past 10 years. There old place was going up the hill towards the Westin.
Lionel is back in business? We used to rent from him years ago before we moved down! His daughter was involved in the business, too! We noticed he wasn’t in business from roughly 2006 on…. what’s the story???
Nice. Can anyone park in that area or is just for his jeeps? We’ll be there next month with a big group and lots of jeeps. It would be great if we could all park together when we’re in town.
His location is right across the street from the free gravel lot, so yeah, everyone can park there.
Looks like it is L&L or “Lionel” jeep rentals. If you look at their website homepage they mention a new Cruz Bay location and offer PAY in-town parking.

This was Lionel Henley’s rental. It used to be at the bottom of Jacobs Ladder. Mr. Henley sold it. The new owner moved it and named it Lionel Jeep rental in his honor but Mr. Henley is no longer involved.
This is not a new business, it has been on St John for over 25 years. It has always been Lionel Jeep Rental. Yes, it was owned by Lionel Henley who sold it in December. Please note it is NOT the same company as L& L Jeep Rental.
