N Y Times notices St. John discounts

Discount deals at Caribbean resorts including  Caneel Bay and the Westin caught the attention of Hillary Howard in Sunday’s New York Times.  "Hotels are slashing room rates, offering food credits and giving away free nights," she wrote.

The Westin’s offering a $350/night rate until Nov. 4m including a $100 daily credit for food and drink.  Caneel’s all-inclusive package includes room, drinks, food, ferry transfers and tips for $595 a night.

The island’s hundreds of villas and condos are now off-season priced, with many management companies saying business is OK.  But Caneel reported saying summer bookings are off 10% from a year ago. The soft economy in the US cited as a reason.

  1. $565.00 a night for meals drinks and transfers wow why would I not stay at Caneel for only $3955,00 a week for 2 of us. Plus air $1600.00 at least from Canada. Thats only $5555.00 for one week. Not a DEAL!! give me a break Caneel, I can go to lots of All Inclusive in Mexico, or other Islands for less than $2500.00 a couple from Canada. Thats why St. Johns and Caneel are off my list of places to go.
