More Nonsense from the Proposed Marina Developers

marina home page
An image from the new ridiculous website put together for the proposed marina in Coral Bay

Last week we mentioned how The Summer’s End Group was forced to resubmit its Army Corps application for the proposed marina in Coral Bay. Well today we’ve got some more good info for you, including information on their ridiculous new website and how we need to once again voice our opinions.

So The Summer’s End Group FINALLY created a website for the project, more than a year after initially introducing it. That seems legitimate, right? (Note the intense sarcasm…) Well we checked it out last night and it is complete nonsense.

It appears that Chaliese Summers purchased the domain on June 3, 2015. The verbiage used is ridiculous. There is one line that I particular loved and I know the majority of you, if not all of you, will share my sentiment.

“The environmentally sensitive marina is enthusiastically supported by local St. John families and businesses.”

Seriously??!! You have got to be kidding me. Here is the entire paragraph to read for yourselves:

marina nonense verbiage

How can that not make you laugh…

Now the second part of the website that I find hilarious is the actual domain – www.theyachtclubatsummersend.net. Notice that the website is a .net as opposed to the traditional .com. Any idea why this is? Well it’s because there are a ton of people who are smarter than the marina folks and they scooped up the marina’s possible domains last year. Go ahead and visit www.theyachtclubatsummersend.com and you will see that it routes directly to the Save Coral Bay GoFund Me page, which is just $163 shy of $100,000 as of this morning. Unbelievable!

Got some free time on your hands this morning … Look up www.summersendgroup.com, www.thesummersendgroup.com or even www.thestjohnmarina.com. You will notice that all route to the Save Coral Bay GoFund Me page. There are a ton others out there that do the same.

Now How You Can Help

We need you all to resubmit your letters. Or in the event you have yet to write a letter, please do so. Here is all of the information straight from Save Coral Bay:

The US Army Corps of Engineers has initiated a new PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD for the proposed Summers End Group marina in Coral Bay, St John.  This new comment period will continue until AUGUST 24, 2015.

If you previously submitted a comment letter (in January/February 2015) we encourage you to resubmit that letter now.  The new application does not include the 75 position public mooring field, so you may remove comments on this topic from your letter.  You may submit your letter either by postal mail, or by email to the addresses below.  Be sure to include the permit application number in the subject line.

Email Subject:          Application  SAJ-2004-12518 (SP-JCM) – Coral Bay Marina
Email To Address:    [email protected]
Email cc Address:    [email protected]

Postal Address:  Mr. José A. Cedeño-Maldonado,  Antilles Permits Section, 400 Fernández Juncos Avenue, San Juan, Puerto Rico 00901-3299

If you are submitting via email, please send a copy to the Save Coral Bay email address ([email protected]) so we can maintain a record of responses.  The Army Corps email system does have some limitations, so please remember to send a copy to [email protected] as further assurance that your comments will get to the Corps.

Another Place to Send Letters or Make Comments

Once you’ve sent your official letter, feel free to visit the proposed marina’s website at www.theyachtclubatsummersend.net and scroll down to the comments section. Feel free to let them know your thoughts on the new marina.

You can also send a copy of your letter directly to Chaliese Summers, the project’s key principle. Her mailing address is:

Happy letter writing!

  1. Please advise Ms. Summers there’s is a typo in her description on the “Waterfront Commercial & Retail” page.

  2. Well played! Can’t wait to see how long before they tuck their tails and run!
Who do you think they’re trying to hoodwink with this latest collection of bull?

  3. I sent my ‘very salty’ message to them on their sight! I’m sure they’ll delete it. Keeping the fire going from Louisiana!!!

  4. Is there a point where we are allowed to violate pc decorum and call them what they are—white trash grifters ? There’s just no other explanation for their continued behavior. None.

  6. I wrote the following on their website but it was not accepted and not published….

“SEG, if you go to ST. CROIX and build a mega marina in Christiansted, you would most likely be welcomed with open arms. In ST. JOHN the majority are opposed. Perhaps you are underestimating the rejection of your presences by the community and those worldwide who visit and enjoy the tranquility and uniqueness of Coral Bay / St. John.”

  7. A psych major who’s professional experience is rather vague is leading this development??? There must be more to this. Any individual or group willing and capable to invest the millions needed for this project would never put someone like this in charge. It’s a shame that it’s so easy to waste our tax dollars (and that the gov’t agencies make it so easy).

  8. Does anyone recognize the pictures used on the website? It is very common for amatures to break copyright laws and just use pictures they found off the internet. I would not be surprised if that’s how these pictures ended up on the website.

    • The photo is of Trunk Bay. Wonder why they would use that photo rather than one of Coral Bay where the Marina is suppose to go?

  9. The Island’s growing too fast as it is. Tranquility will be gone, natural habitats will be gone. They will find some reason for the donkeys to be gone. Why a new marina? A big hotel chain? Let the Island people decide what they want and NEED.
