We have been inundated with emails and messages asking us how people off island can get a “Save Our Asses” T-shirt. Here is the info you’ve all been asking for…
There are two T-shirts that have been created to support our island’s donkeys during the drought. As we previously mentioned, the lack of rain is placing a huge burden on our island’s donkeys and also on Oriel Smith, who takes such good care of them and feeds many of them daily. Therefore several businesses stepped up to create T-shirts with the proceeds benefitting our efforts to help the donkeys, hence “save our asses.”
The First Shirt – July 7th Update: SOLD OUT
The red Save Our Asses T-shirts cost $25 and the entire cost of the shirt will be donated to the Donkey Fund at the Animal Care Center. So for every shirt that sells, $25 will be donated to the Donkey Fund. If you are on island, you can purchase them at Jolly Dog over in Coral Bay (next to Skinny Legs) or at Chelsea Drug Store in the Marketplace.
July 7th Update: The red shirts are SOLD OUT.
A huge thank you to Jolly Dog, 340 Real Estate, Chelsea Drug, Tradewinds Studio in Maryland and Jane Higgins Resortwear in St Thomas for making these shirts happen.
The Second Shirt
The second shirt was created by Pretlow Majette, owner of Big Planet and Made in St. John; Kate Norfleet provided the logo. There are two versions of this shirt – Save Our Asses for the adults and Save Our Donkeys for the kids. These shirts include the ACC’s logo as well. These shirts cost $25 and $10 from every shirt will be donated to the Donkey Fund. The shirts are available on island at Big Planet and Made in St. John and can also be purchased online on the store’s websites.
So here is what it comes down to – cost, convenience and appearance.
If you choose to buy the first shirt, you have a bit more work to do. You will have to print out the form, fill it out and mail it to St. John before you get your shirt; however you will be donating $25 per shirt in doing so.
If you choose to buy the second shirt, you can enjoy the convenience of buying it online and may receive it a bit quicker, but only $10 will be donated per shirt should you choose this route.
Or simply purchase the shirt that is more visually appealing to you. 🙂
Do you know whether Jolly Dog has received additional shirts? When I called a few weeks ago they were out of stock 🙁
I just emailed them, and they said they are sold out.
Will you be reprinting the red shirts?
Any word on the re-print of the red shirts?
Are checks accepted for the first shirt? Thanks!
I see the red ones are sold out, went to get the second shirt and can’t find it on the site linked.
I would like to purchase one of the original red Save Our Asses T-Shirts and will gladly pay $40.00 U.S. for it. Can someone please tell me how to make it happen or facilitate the transaction. I can be reached by text at
(508) 364-9836. Thank you
Hi- I contacted Jolly Dog yesterday (August 5) and Jeff said to try contacting them again in October. I hope these shirts get printed again I want to order 5.
I am desperately trying to order a shirt from Jolly Dog. I have tried all the links on the web and I just can’t reach these folks. Anyone know of a website that shows merchandise for sale? Thank you. Kristy P.S. Love the Save our Asses campaign. I happen to have a mini mediterranean donkey all the way here in the midwest of the United States, Sherman, IL.
