Former Voyages Building Gets Its First Tenants

A few weeks ago, we told all of you how the old Voyages building in Coral Bay, now called Isola, listed a couple of apartments for rent. Well we’re happy to let you all know that even more progress has been happening on the years-vacant building.

Signs went up last week announcing two of the building’s new tenants – Jolly Dog Trading Company and Jan’s Creations By the Sea. Jolly Dog has been selling resort t-shirts, apparel and accessories since 1977. It’s currently located over next to Skinny Legs and will continue to maintain that location as well.

Jan’s Creations By the Sea offers beautiful, handcrafted jewelry. Jan Keisler opened the shop in 2009 just down the road. We wrote about Jan back in 2014. Click here to read that article.

You’ll notice in the picture above that there’s a sign that says “Rum Bar” on the building. No, Joe’s Rum Hut isn’t opening a second location in Coral Bay as the Coconut Telegraph recently suggested. The property owner is still looking to secure a restaurant/bar for that space.

We’ll keep you all posted as more progress is made over there. In the meantime, have a great day everyone!

  1. I wish they would reopen the parking area that they blocked off with planters. We really need more parking spaces instead of less.

    • Jay, it should be more than a wish – they’re required by code to provide parking, and if the use of the building changes (more tenants, more employees, more patrons) then there’s a formula to calculate how many spots they need.

Then again, with the owner’s past project (Wharfside), we always saw the parking decrease – so I’d expect more of the same with zero oversight from incompetent DPNR.

      • fear not…. parking situation is dealt with — the property owner has purchased the lot behind the building and so they are permitting with DPNR and there will be ample parking there.
