TripAdvisor.com, the international travel Web site, has named St. Thomas and Cruz Bay to its first annual list of 2008 Travelers’ Choice World Destinations. In fact, Charlotte Amalie was ranked in 6th place, and Cruz Bay was 7th. The selections were made b y millions of TripAdvisor.com users.
“These awards emphasize the importance of ensuring that we consistently deliver a positive and memorable tourism experience for all our guests,” Beverly Nicholson-Doty, the VI’s Tourism Commissioner said, in a statement reported by Caribbean Net News. “It is not only the job of our hospitality and tourism professionals, but also every member of our community.”
Michele Perry, vice president of global communications for TripAdvisor, said in a statement the company’s awards “are unique because they single out not just popular places but truly exceptional places that enthrall travelers and keep them coming back.”
Charlotte Amalie was described as “Clean, friendly, full of great shopping and quiet little spot.” Cruz Bay was described as “Very beautiful…a quaint little town.”
