Congressional earmark bill leaves out St. John

The Congress’ override last week of President Bush’s veto of a $23 billion water development bill put the Virgin Islands in line for $25 million for wastewater infrastructure repairs.

The money will go to projects on St. Thomas and St. Croix which were ordered by the Environmental Protection Agency to enforce the federal Clean Water Act in the VIs, the Virgin Islands Daily News reported.

The funds were bundled into the bill by Delegate Donna Christensen at the request of Gov. John deJongh, the News said.

As usual, though, Christensen’s Web site is mute on what she’s doing.  Its "Press Release" section hasn’t been freshened since spring.  Maybe she’s still getting back up to speed after her controversial winter vacation.
