It's one week and counting for another fund raiser for the Animal Care Center.
This time it's the island-wide flea market. No Fleas Please sets up at the ball field of the Sprauve School.
Gently used items and clothing go on sale starting at 10 a.m. a week from Saturday, the 22nd. Expect good buys on kitchen utensils, furniture, books, maybe even TVs and DVDs. The ACC says its collection trailers "are FULL."
Top Dogs, the ACC's own catering team, will also serve up its latest creations. While the menu's a 'secret', you can bet there will be imaginative riffs on old standards such as barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, and maybe even grilled cheese sandwiches.
Of course, besides a bargain, you can also take home a dog. many of the ACC adoptees-in-waiting will be on hand for instant acquisition. From Noon to 12 p.m., new puppies will be available.
No Fleas Please is not just for locals. Every year, the ACC is able to send some island dogs to the mainland with visitors who decided to take home a special souvenir.
There will be lots of great buys so hope to see you all there.
