Chester’s Getaway = Awesome New Spot

Chesters Getaway

Well first off, Happy Monday everyone! Now let’s talk about this great new spot that just opened up. It’s called Chester’s Getaway and I think you should all check it out.

Chester’s Getaway is a neat little, somewhat out of the way bar and restaurant on Centerline Road. It’s not your typical beachfront St. John bar … well obvious not because you’re not on the beach. But it’s more than that – When you visit Chester’s, you feel like you are being welcomed into his home. That’s what makes it pretty special in our opinion. (And if you are lucky like I was, you may even be greeted by Chester’s wife Julia Joseph with a big hug. You may even catch a glimpse of Chester’s adorable little son too.)

Chester Miago opened Chester’s Getaway a few weeks back. He previously owned Cruz Bay Getaway over at the Lumberyard. He wasn’t thrilled with the location so he decided to set up shop down the road.

Chester’s Getaway is located in the same lot as Canines, Cats and Critters – on the right side of the road a bit past Paradise Lumber if you’re heading out east. Chester’s has a full bar and $3 beers all day and night. They serve BBQ, pork ribs with rice. chicken, johnny cakes and steamed fish – all for around $10 each.

We also heard from a fabulous woman named Island Sue that they have the best wings in town.

Chester’s is open from 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. He has a happy hour every Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and all beers are only $2. You can also tastes some of Chester’s delicious rum punch for only $3 during happy hour.

Chester’s plans to have live music on the weekends, so be sure to check out their Facebook page to see who is playing. They have a pool table and a party room in the back that can be rented out for special occasions.

  1. Looking forward to coming in and having a beer and some ribs and wings. Can’t wait! Congrates and good luck. See you in August.

  2. After renting a Jeep & exploring St. John all day we were famished! We stopped at a place “up the hill” from Chester’s & the kitchen was closed. Upon inquiring about another spot to eat a woman introduced us to Chester! He called his restaurant (which didn’t start serving food for another hour) and asked his beautiful & amazing cook to prepare something for us because we were on our way there! Chester led us to his new place & we were welcomed like family! Chester & Julia are wonderful people. An outside table was set just for us & we relaxed with a couple ice cold beers while we awaited our meal! We feasted on Collard Greens (the best we have ever had!), Rice & Beans beautifully seasoned & BBQ Chicken with a homemade sauce that blew our minds! A definite go to spot on St. John’s! See u next year Chester & Julia!
