Barshinger is back

Voters decided to send Craig Barshinger, nearly a perennial frequent candidate, back to the Virgin Islands Senate.  Defeated for reelection two years ago by Sen. Carmen Wesselhoft, the St. John resident made another run for the At Large Senate seat this year and won.

BarshingterThis time out, he had an easy time of it.  The St. John Source quoted Barshinger saying, “I guess the people looked back at what I did in the 26th Legislature and missed it. It's great to be back.”  His first goal will be to put pressure on to reduce electricity rates charged by the water and Power Authority.

In my opinion, Wesselhoft’s brief tenure was unremarkable, except that she was absent at community and town meetings and voted in favor of a zoning matter favorable to developers of Sirenusa.
