Barefoot Cowboy Gets New Owners

Back in September, we mentioned how the popular Barefoot Cowboy Lounge had listed for sale. Well today we’d like you all to know that the business has sold to a great local family who we all know and love.

Eric and Kellie Jo Barley purchased Barefoot Cowboy last week. The couple, who bought Sail Safaris back in 2013, seems pretty excited to be taking over the BCL and we’re excited for them. We chatted with them a bit the other day and they said they plan to continue making great barbecue food, but they also plan to add some other great items to the menu. For starters, they plan to add frozen drinks to the cocktail menu, as well as all you can drink sweet tea for $5 and hard tea for $3. They’re going to have an all you can eat rib night, daily dessert specials and a soup of the day. Kellie Jo said she plans to add some new plates like homemade mac and cheese, chicken pot pies, homemade salsa and more. Delish!

The Barefoot Cowboy will be open for lunch and dinner and a lighter food menu is in the works. Soon come as we tend to say down here… Another fun thing they plan to add is line dancing every Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. Now that should be fun!

For those of you not familiar with the Barley family, they moved to St. John back in 2013. They’re originally from Florida where they farmed cows, peanuts and grass seed. They purchased Sail Safaris and now the Barefoot Cowboy Lounge – how’s that for living the St. John dream. 🙂

We’ll keep you all posted on the happenings over at the new Barefoot Cowboy Lounge. In the meantime, click here to read more about how the Barley family arrived on St. John.

  1. Glad to hear this. This is a pretty cool location and could be a lot of fun with a little more owner/customer interaction that seemed to be lacking over the past couple of years. And we gave it several chances. Will give it another shot now!

  2. You’re killing me. We are a Texas family and we had our entire crew there this last summer. We always love our Stjohn trips. No pressure, my aunt owns IronWorks bar bq out of Austin so we know and love us some good bar bq. The brother in law has been going there every year for the last 21 years
