Karen Storm Path
Track as of 8 a.m. Monday morning

To say it’s been an active storm season is an understatement at this point. We have yet a another storm that is set to affect St. John.

Tropical Storm Karen is expected to pass through the region overnight and into Tuesday. St. John is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning. As of 8 a.m. Monday morning, Tropical Storm Karen remained a compact storm with maximum winds of 40 miles per hour. The center of the storm is forecasted to track west of St. John.

The forecasted storm track is the red line. Most of St. John remains in the cone. Track as of 8 a.m. Monday morning.

What does this mean for St. John? The island could see two to four inches of rain with up to six inches in isolated spots, according to Dan Boyd’s latest forecast on St. John VI Weather. This could lead to flooding, so please be careful out there. We also may receive gusty winds.

The ports are set to close today, Monday, at 2 p.m. and will remain closed until further notice. This means that the people ferries will cease operations until the storm passes. The last car barge will leave St. Thomas for St. John at 1 p.m. Only the Grand Vic is running today. As of 8 a.m. Monday, the airport on St. Thomas remains open, although that can change. The Virgin Islands government and all schools will close today at noon.

We will do our best to keep you updated if anything changes. As always, check out the Government House and VI Port Authority’s Facebook pages for the latest info.
