Popular Cruz Bay Bar Sells

castaways may 2015

This is one of those times where we are happy and sad at the same time. One of our favorite Cruz Bay spots – Castaways – has sold. As of tomorrow, the space will officially have new owners – owners who may be familiar to many of you.

The guys over at Doghouse Pub in St. Thomas – John Alvarado and his brother Pedro – have decided to branch out into Cruz Bay and will set up shop in the Castaways’ location. They’re doing so along with Austin Doolin, who lives here in Cruz Bay. If John’s name sounds familiar to you, it’s because he is also the owner of Drink, a great new bar that opened earlier this year in the former Motu location. More fun facts about John – he is also the director of sales at Grande Bay and has appeared on House Hunters International.

So you may be curious what exactly is going to happen over at Castaways… Well as we mentioned, Doghouse Pub officially takes over tomorrow, June 1. The bar will remain Castaways for the next few months, but under the new ownership, and from what we hear, the staff will remain on. The new owners plan to change a couple of things in the space and will official relaunch as Doghouse Pub within a few months – definitely prior to football season.

For those of you not familiar with Doghouse Pub, it’s a fun little bar over in St. Thomas near Havensight that serves great burgers, Mexican-like food and breakfast – yum! Check out their menus:photoburg photobreak

We’ll keep you posted on all of the changes and the official relaunch date.

  1. why do people get addicted to wanting to own as many businesses as possible here and be pulled in every direction? Pick one, and run it with a passion. my 2 cents:)

ie…sail safari’s ran under b/c they wanted more and took on barefoot cowboy also.
