Ferry Service Set to Resume Between STJ and BVI

Cruz Bay Creek Customs Nov 2018

Plans are in the works to make it easier to get over to the British Virgin Islands.

According to the St. John Tradewinds, the Virgin Island Port Authority has plans to begin construction on a new customs building in Cruz Bay. The old customs building was destroyed and torn down. A temporary office, set in a modular building, opened back in June. This allowed boats to clear customs in Cruz Bay, however it has not allowed ferry service to resume. Currently ferries only go between Red Hook and the British Virgin Islands.

The building is expected to be completed by November. At that time, ferry service between St. John and the BVI will resume.

During construction, a portion of the customs’ lot will be used to store materials, therefore parking will be limited. Fortunately, we have additional parking options in Cruz Bay. Click here to read the article we wrote on that yesterday.

More “news” you can use today! Have a great one everyone!

  1. You know it’s cold in Minnesota when:
They cancel events at the St Paul Winter Carnival due to the freezing temps!!!!

Can’t wait for Feb 16th. Island bound and as Kenny says:
“I ain’t never going back again”.

  2. Are there any day charters that will take us from St John to Jost Van Dyke to hang out for the day? Not really interested in excursions, just a taxi/ferry to get there.
