Join Us in Supporting STJ Organizations this Giving Tuesday

Throughout the year, I get lots of emails asking about which organizations on St. John need monetary support. We have a ton of worthy organizations here on island, but there are three that need some extra love right now. If you are looking to donate today, please consider donating to one of the following organizations. #givingtuesday

Animal Care Center

The Animal Care Center of St. John, Inc. (ACC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being and care of homeless, abandoned and abused animals on our island. Following the hurricanes, the ACC cared for three years of animals in less than one year. This created a very large vet bill, not to mention the other operating expenses the shelter undertakes on a daily basis. This is a very worthy organization and one very near and dear to my heart. Please consider donating to them today. You can donate securely on their website at www.stjohnanimalcarecenter.com/donate

Island Health and Wellness

More than half of St. John residents are uninsured and nearly two-thirds do not have health insurance that covers basic primary care needs. It is not because people do not want health insurance; it is simply difficult to obtain living in a US Territory. Island Health and Wellness is St. John’s only is a 501(c)(3) non-profit primary care practice. Island Health treats patients regardless of their ability to pay. And the number of those unable to pay for basic health care needs following the storm has increased significantly. It’s important that we keep our community healthy, which is why donations to this organization are much needed. You can donate securely via PayPal at PayPal.me/islandhealth

Carolina Corral

The Carolina Corral, located in Coral Bay, is not a nonprofit, but it is a very worthy organization. Dana Bartlett cares for abandoned, injured and surrendered animals including horses, donkeys, deep, goats and more. Feeding these animals is expensive, so much so that Dana started cutting grass around the island recently in order to feed the horses. Dana is a treasure to our community and she could use our support. You can help care for the animals at the corral by sending a monetary payment via PayPal to  info@horsesstjohn.com.

Thank you for your continued love and support of St. John! Have a great #givingtuesday everyone!

Thanks very much for making mention of the Carolina Corral and our need in keeping everyone fed and housed! Visitors are welcome anytime to see the gang and/or take a horseback or donkey wagon ride with us. I obtained nonprofit status two years ago, but am still working on becoming a 501c3. Beginning by meeting all of the VI government’s tax obligations. We’re getting there slowly but surely.
