Good Morning, Good Morning! I have some pretty incredible news to share with all of you today! On March 30, the St. John Cancer Fund’s (SJCF) Light up the Night Event will take place for the first time since 2020. This once annual fundraiser, the primary in-person fundraising event for SJCF, will take place at the newly re-opened National Park Ballfield (across the street from Mongoose Junction) on March 30 from 3pm-midnight. The in-person event is an incredible community gathering…There will be laughter, there will be tears, there will be a dunk tank, live music, a luminary ceremony and delicious food and drinks for purchase. And above all, there will be LOVE. Join us as we walk together to honor our loved ones lost, to celebrate the survivors, to cheer on the warriors in our community as they fight a battle with cancer.

Good morning! March is VI History Month. As we celebrate, let’s take a moment to honor the sacrifices and legacies of our ancestors, whose footsteps paved the way for us to revel in the richness of the beautiful US Virgin Islands.
Good Morning! March is shaping up to be a very exciting month for music on St. John. The 6th Annual VI Jam Fest with headlining acts including Kyle Smith and Fortunate Youth just wrapped up over the weekend. In the coming days, we will be welcoming even more nationally known artists to St. John.
Jam Base recently called St. John the Caribbean Jam Band Mecca.
And it’s continuing to live up to that name. Lovango Rum Bar in downtown Cruz Bay has just announced that Keller Williams will be performing there on March 15th and 16th at 9:00pm.
The St. John Historical Society, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, will be hosting a 50th anniversary celebration and fundraiser to highlight Caribbean history on Sunday, March 24th at 18°64° Restaurant, located in Mongoose Junction. “Back to the Museum” Night will feature St. John artifacts, historical paintings, and an exclusive look into local families’ private collections. Good morning, and Happy 1st of March, also known down here as Virgin Islands History Month!
Over the last three years, as a resident on St. John, I’ve learned about the deeply rooted, rich culture of the Virgin Islands. Picking fresh fruit from mango trees, eating saltfish and pates, and listening to the harmonious sounds of the steel pan are all aspects of this beautiful culture that I’ve come to know and love.
Recently coming across a series of interviews titled Personal Legends, created by the Friends of the Virgin Islands artist-in-residence Kayden Richards, I am reminded of the time-honored and diverse heritage of the Virgin Islands. By exploring generational traditions shared by nine subjects from St. John, St. Thomas, and St. Croix, Richards perfectly encapsulated the vibrant spirit of these islands and its people.
