Popular Cruz Bay Restaurant Closing

A popular Cruz Bay restaurant is closing its doors for good. We’re sad to tell you all, but today is the last day for Ocean Grill.

The restaurant, which is located over in Mongoose Junction, has decided to close after being open for 12 years. Here is what they had to say on their Facebook page:

“Ocean Grill would like to thank all our customers for their support over a great 12 years. However, we are one of the many hurricane impacted businesses to face a tough business decision and we have decided to close Ocean Grill…None of us are leaving island. Just Beach and Leeward Islands Plumbing will continue to happily be open for business.”

Despite the amazing progress our island has had over the past year, tourism is still down. So if you are able do, please go ahead and book that trip and help boost our economy. We would all be super appreciative.

And for the businesses on island reading the blog, Patty would like you all to know that she will be selling everything from the tables and chairs to kitchen equipment including an ice maker and generator. The sale will begin sometime next week.

Thank you to Patty, John and the staff of Ocean Grill for the great food, service and experiences over the years. Ocean Grill will be truly missed.

  9. So sorry to hear this news. The impact of the hurricanes goes on. As one who spent time at Maho, Cinnamon Bay Campground, and a few nights at Concordia one year… and volunteered for three months at VIERS… I have to say that those affordable accommodations made it possible for many many people to support the local restaurants and businesses on St John. The fact that that kind of option is a significant loss. I miss St John and St John missed us.

  10. This is hitting me harder than anything else. We held our wedding reception here and it has a very special place in my heart. We come back every year over our anniversary and always look forward to having an amazing dinner and reflect on all the special memories we have there. Best of luck to Patty and entire team.

  13. We have made so many memories at Oceans Grill over the years. John, Arrons (three that we knew of), Diane (best waitress in the world!) and all staff were always so gracious and took care of us so well. We will miss the Pineapple tinis, great entrees (Lobster was not only excellent but effortless), Dessert mmm on the Key Lime and atmosphere! We wish you and your families all the best.
It is sad that times change, but we will always have the fondest memories of long lunches, dinners and many celebrations. Thank you for it all!
