Lifting Up Love City

Hello everyone and happy Sunday! I attended a fundraiser in Connecticut last night, and it was absolutely incredible. Roughly 250 people attended, and early estimates show that nearly $30,000 was raised for St. John. $30,000! Amazing!! The proceeds will be given to Kenny Chesney’s Love for Love City Foundation and St. John Rescue. I want to thank everyone around the country for planning these events and for loving our island. I also want to extend a huge thanks to Russ Ballou for planning this event.

Russ made the following video for last night’s event, which he dubbed “Lift Up Love City”. It’s lengthy – just under nine minutes long – but I think you will all enjoy it.

(Just for the record, Russ sped up the video I took on North Shore Road. I was actually driving only about 15-20 mph. 🙂 )

  1. Wow! Great film and stirring presentation! Thank You so much!! Wondering about my friends Linda Sorensen who owns Cloud Nine Villa and several other properties…are Linda and Allen okay?!?
Sending all of you big love and kindred spirits!

  2. This is beautiful. It made me cry too. It really served to remind me of what a special place it is. Although I never need to be reminded of that.

  3. What a touching video! So much gratitude for your tireless efforts to update us all, and your positive attitude is tremendous. Thanks to you and much love for such a wonderful place, can’t wait to return.

  4. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for posting this video. It is so encouraging to see the healing and rebuilding and COMMUNITY of Love City. It’s awesome to behold.

  5. My husband John and I were at this event in Mystic last night. I’m thrilled to hear what a successful night it was. It was great to be with so many local CT folks who share our love for St. John!

  6. This is the one that got me.

As shocked, upset, worried, horrified, sad and outraged as I’ve been since I watched Irma churn over STJ on Sept 6th, I haven’t cried until now.

This is the one that got me.

Thank you SO much for posting and for all of the work you’re doing to keep us updated. And a huge thank you to all the people who are working so hard to recover from the storms.

It’s incredibly humbling to SEE what is happening there and think that there has been no electricity (except generators) ALL THIS TIME. Incredibly humbling.

  7. My comment above should have said “since I watched on the radar as Irma churned over St. John …”. I was not there to witness it first hand and would not want to imply that I had.

  8. What a great choice of this 2018 St. John Raffle “Hand”!
And Russ, thank you for your Connecticut work on behalf
    of our ‘special island’!
